Factory reset

Putting a controller back together when the ordinary ways are out of reach: a card that has been formatted, a screen that stays blank, firmware that will not start. Both tabs talk to the hardware directly rather than through the app's usual MIDI connection, so they work on a controller that answers nothing.

    Restore the interface files

The mkI draws its screen from a file on its SD card rather than from firmware, so a card that has been formatted - or replaced - leaves a controller that boots with a blank or garbled display and cannot be repaired by a firmware update. This writes that file back.

No controller is connected. Plug the mkI in over USB - it answers even with a blank screen, so this works on a controller that looks dead.
Looking for firmware rather than the interface? A controller that will not boot at all is the Update firmware tab's recovery panel, which writes a firmware image through the mkI's own bootloader.
This browser cannot reach a controller in boot mode. Programming the firmware directly needs Web Serial, which Chrome, Edge and the Electra One desktop app have and Firefox and Safari do not.
